Tomorrow (the 16th), a special media art exhibition titled "AI Media Art - Light Awakening Taste" will open in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon Province, featuring 14 local residents reinterpreting the colors and flavors of the East Coast through cutting-edge generative AI technology.

This exhibition will run daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until July 26 at the exhibition hall of Yangyang-eup Culture and Welfare Center. The event, hosted by Yangyang-gun and Sokcho City and jointly organized by the Yangyang Cultural Foundation and Sokcho Culture and Tourism Foundation, was planned as part of the "Sokgoyang (Sokcho·Goseong·Yangyang)" metropolitan cultural city project of the Republic of Korea.

The exhibition is particularly meaningful as 14 ordinary local residents participated as creative subjects. After completing a generative AI media art education program, they showcased works they created themselves, demonstrating the transformation from ordinary residents to AI-based artists.

Participating residents deeply explored Yangyang's unique cultural assets including the East Coast ecosystem, local ingredients, and folk tales. These were reinterpreted through state-of-the-art generative AI and digital technology to create artistic works with fresh perspectives.

To enhance professionalism, the education program involved experts from various fields as instructors, including Heo Dae-chan, CEO of Alice On, Yun Hyun-min, curator at Total Museum of Art, and Kim Soo-young, CEO of Kozz, strengthening residents' creative capabilities.

During the exhibition period, a results presentation will be held on July 19 at 3 p.m., where the students will directly introduce their work creation process and achievements. This will provide visitors an opportunity to glimpse the stories behind the works and the struggles of creation.

Kim Soo-young, CEO of Kozz, highly evaluated the exhibition's significance, stating that it is "a meaningful result where local residents, as creative subjects, reinterpreted regional assets into digital art."

This exhibition transcends simply showcasing art works, providing an opportunity for local residents to grow as new cultural creators in the digital age. It is also expected to become a successful model for the "Republic of Korea Cultural City 'Sokgoyang'" metropolitan project, which reinterprets regional stories with contemporary sensibility. The convergence of local cultural assets and cutting-edge technology presents forward-looking values that will contribute to the development of regional culture.
