SK Innovation gifts 20,000 books to rural areas...nurturing the future

고진아 Reporter

SK Innovation is supporting the future of children in rural areas through the '2026 Children's Book Dream Project,' contributing significantly to nurturing their dreams by providing over 20,800 books cumulatively to date.

This project is a key component of the 'Happy Dream Library' initiative that SK Innovation has been steadily pursuing since 2024 in partnership with Kyobo Book Centre and Save the Children. SK Innovation has fulfilled its corporate social responsibility by enabling children in rural areas to access quality educational opportunities and enjoy a rich reading culture. In particular, through collaboration with specialized partners, the company is enhancing the sustainability and efficiency of the project while focusing on creating social value.

The '2026 Children's Book Dream Project' operates through a unique 'matching method' that encourages citizen participation. When citizens donate books, SK Innovation and Kyobo Book Centre donate an equal quantity of books in addition. This is designed to inspire voluntary sharing spirit among citizens and create a virtuous cycle of giving so that more children can benefit. Citizens who wish to participate can visit the online Kyobo Book Centre event page or donate books directly through the offline donation booth at Kyobo Book Centre's Gwanghwamun branch for one month from August 1 to 31. The project is scheduled to run until September 9.

Through the '2026 Children's Book Dream Project,' SK Innovation will establish seven new 'Happy Dream Libraries' in rural areas this year. As a result, 'Happy Dream Libraries' will expand to a cumulative total of 32 locations, and approximately 20,800 books are expected to be provided to a cumulative 2,000 children in rural areas from 2024 to the present. This is expected to serve as a valuable foundation necessary for children in rural areas to understand the world through reading and nurture their dreams.

SK Innovation's continued social contribution activities are having a positive impact on bridging the educational gap and promoting reading culture in rural areas, demonstrating the importance of investment in future generations. Recognized as a best practice case in realizing social value beyond corporate social responsibility, SK Innovation will continue its efforts to create an environment where more children can pursue their dreams.
