Southeast Asian low-cost carriers (LCCs) are now entering the era of "the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky." Cebu Pacific, a Philippine airline, announced today (3rd) that it will be the first LCC in Southeast Asia to introduce SpaceX's satellite internet "Starlink" starting in 2027.

Through this service beginning next year, passengers will be able to experience "the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky," which is comparable to ground services, including HD video streaming, online gaming, and work tasks. By providing seamless high-quality internet connectivity during flights, this is expected to enhance travel convenience and enjoyment.

The installation of Starlink is part of a large-scale alliance project involving 1,000 aircraft under five airlines under Indigo Partners. This project, which includes Frontier Airlines, Wizz Air, Volaris, JetSmart, and Cebu Pacific, is the world's largest next-generation in-flight connectivity service among LCCs, signaling a major impact on the industry.

Xander Lao, president of Cebu Pacific, promised regarding this introduction that "we will provide passengers with an innovative in-flight experience while maintaining reasonable fares unchanged."
