On July 31, 2026 (local time), President Lee Jae-myung declared a new era of cooperation between the two countries in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

President Lee stated at a gathering with compatriots, "I am confident that a completely new era of cooperation between Argentina and the Republic of Korea can be fully opened." This message signals that, based on substantive achievements in critical minerals, energy, and infrastructure, Korea and Argentina are advancing as important strategic partners in the era of global supply chain realignment and the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution.

President Lee emphasized that economic cooperation between the two countries has moved beyond the stage of discussing mere possibilities to a stage of discussing "substantive results." In particular, he explained that cooperation between the two countries continues to expand not only in critical minerals including lithium development, but also in energy and infrastructure sectors. Korea is building a mutually complementary cooperation model based on advanced technological capabilities and resource needs, while Argentina contributes abundant resources and growth potential. This economic partnership is expected to enhance the standing of both nations amid the intensifying global competition for resource acquisition and supply chain realignment.

Beyond economic cooperation, cultural ties are also deepening. President Lee referenced the fact that Argentina designated November 22 as the national memorial day "Kimchi Day" annually, suggesting that cultural exchange and trust between the two countries are intensifying. This is a symbolic example showing that emotional bonds between the peoples of both nations are strengthening. At the same time, President Lee expressed deep gratitude to the Korean diaspora in Argentina for serving as a "solid bridge in bilateral relations for the past 60 years," emphasizing that their dedication and efforts have been an important foundation for developing comprehensive cooperative relations between the two countries.

President Lee repeatedly emphasized the importance of strategic cooperation amid the changing international order. His vision is that amid unpredictable international circumstances, a firm partnership based on mutual trust will provide both countries with stable growth momentum. Furthermore, President Lee pledged that the government will spare no effort in supporting the protection of the safety and interests of the diaspora, as well as strengthening ties with the homeland, reaffirming that the Korean diaspora community is a key pillar in advancing bilateral relations.

President Lee Jae-myung's visit to Argentina and his remarks clearly demonstrate that the two countries are building deeper trust and partnership relations across economics and culture, transcending mere resource cooperation. Through this cooperation, Korea and Argentina will play important roles in the future global order, and this is expected to contribute not only to bilateral relations but also to regional stability and prosperity. Comprehensive partnership strengthening is expected to provide new growth opportunities for both countries.
