SK Pharmteco has finally completed its new Sejong plant, investing 260 million dollars (approximately 376 billion won) to strengthen its peptide production capacity, a key raw material in the rapidly growing obesity and diabetes treatment market.
The Sejong new plant is expected to serve as a strategic hub for SK Pharmteco to respond to the rapidly expanding peptide pharmaceutical market and strengthen its global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) capabilities. The plant, to be operated by its subsidiary SK Biotech, is SK Pharmteco's fifth production facility established in Korea.
In 2024, SK Pharmteco announced that it would invest a total of 260 million dollars (approximately 376 billion won) in the construction of this plant with the goal of securing a leading position in the peptide pharmaceutical CDMO market. The completion of the Sejong new plant as of August 2, 2026 carries significant strategic importance in expanding domestic peptide production capacity and stabilizing the global supply chain.
The newly completed Sejong plant boasts a scale of approximately 12,600 square meters (about 3,800 pyeong). In particular, through 8 production trains, it has secured the capacity to produce tens of tons annually of high-quality peptides, and is equipped with state-of-the-art peptide research and development (R&D) facilities to pursue both production efficiency and technological innovation.
