The 'K-Food Buyer Invitation Export Consultation,' the largest agricultural food and industry export consultation hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, concluded with record-breaking achievements. Notably, it achieved the highest performance since the event's inception in 2009, opening new horizons for K-Food exports.

The export consultation was held from the 15th to the 16th at the aT Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul. The event saw active business exchanges with 143 buyers from 45 countries worldwide and 279 domestic export companies participating. Over two days, a total of 2,124 consultations took place, amounting to $268 million. Additionally, Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) worth $27 million, which could lead to actual contracts in the future, were signed, establishing a long-term cooperation foundation beyond short-term achievements. These figures clearly demonstrate the continuously growing global interest and demand for K-Food.

MAFRA emphasized that this consultation is one of the key strategies for increasing Korean agricultural and food exports. Particularly encouraging is the signing of a $5 million contract in the fresh agricultural produce sector, which is being fostered as a global strategic item. This suggests that Korea's high-quality fresh agricultural products possess sufficient competitiveness in overseas markets and are expected to significantly contribute to diversifying K-Food export items in the future. Fresh agricultural products require high technical expertise and quality maintenance throughout the logistics and distribution processes, and this contract signifies a further strengthening of Korean agriculture's technological capabilities and export prowess.

▲ Record-Breaking Performance Achieved

The success of this export consultation contributed significantly to enhancing the global recognition of the K-Food brand, going beyond mere monetary achievements. Buyers showed keen interest in the excellence and diversity of Korean agricultural products and food, demonstrating that K-Food is perceived not just as food but as an important element of Korean culture. Following the consultation, MAFRA organized familiarization tours for buyers to directly experience and understand Korean food culture. Such culture-linked marketing is essential for more effectively conveying the appeal of K-Food and laying the groundwork for long-term export expansion.

K-Food exports have shown steady growth in recent years, establishing themselves as a crucial pillar of the Korean economy. The government is implementing various policy supports and marketing activities to expand K-Food exports, and this export consultation is regarded as one of the fruits of these efforts. Particularly, the signing of MOUs plays a vital role in building continuous business relationships beyond one-off transactions. This can provide stable export channels for domestic farms and related industries, creating a virtuous cycle that leads to increased production and improved quality.

▲ Global Market Expansion Strategy and Breakthrough in Fresh Agricultural Produce Sector

K-Food exports are expected to accelerate further in the future. Based on the high interest and demand from overseas buyers confirmed at this consultation, MAFRA plans to establish customized export strategies and strengthen follow-up management. Specifically, it aims to enhance export competitiveness across various items, including fresh agricultural products and processed foods, and actively pursue new market development. By continuously expanding marketing activities linked to Korean food culture experiences, K-Food's appeal will be promoted worldwide, further solidifying its position in the global market. The combination of these efforts holds the potential for K-Food to grow into a core content that leads culture and lifestyle beyond the dining tables of people worldwide.
