Yeoju City and SK Hynix have signed a business cooperation agreement for welfare projects supporting elderly safety and youth self-reliance, investing 154 million won, opening a new horizon where corporations and local communities realize citizen-centered welfare together.

Yeoju City officially announced on July 16, 2026, the signing of a business cooperation agreement with SK Hynix for elderly and youth welfare support projects. This agreement is drawing attention as an exemplary case of public-private cooperation, with SK Hynix investing 154 million won to contribute to improving community welfare.

On July 15, the day before, a signing ceremony was held at Yeoju City Hall with great success. The event was attended by key figures including Yeoju Mayor Lee Chung-woo, National Assembly Member Kim Seon-gyo, SK Hynix Vice President Park Ho-hyun, as well as the director of Yeoju Senior Welfare Center and the director of Yeoju Community Self-Reliance Center, taking a meaningful first step in a warm atmosphere. Participants expressed expectations that the quality of life for Yeoju citizens will improve through this agreement.

SK Hynix's 154 million won investment will be channeled into three key projects. First, it will support elderly walkers to help seniors with mobility challenges move safely. Second, it will provide emergency safety services for the elderly, establishing a rapid response system in case of emergencies and enhancing elderly safety. Third, it will support the creation of Yeoju Youth Self-Reliance Project Teams, helping local young people establish a foundation for self-reliance and grow into healthy members of society. These projects are evaluated as customized support that closely reflects Yeoju City's welfare needs.

Yeoju Mayor Lee Chung-woo stated, "This agreement is a very meaningful project where corporations and local communities work together to support elderly safety and youth self-reliance. We are grateful for SK Hynix's generous investment, and we will continue to expand welfare projects that citizens can feel and benefit from."

SK Hynix Vice President Park Ho-hyun also emphasized, "Corporate social responsibility lies in growing together with the local community. We hope that this project conducted hand in hand with Yeoju City will provide practical assistance to the elderly and youth, and bring positive changes to our community."

This cooperation between Yeoju City and SK Hynix is evaluated as a successful public-private partnership model where corporations recognize and actively respond to local community welfare needs. By providing customized welfare for two important demographics—the elderly and youth—beyond mere financial support, it has achieved both corporate social responsibility and regional welfare improvement. It is anticipated that welfare projects that Yeoju citizens can tangibly feel will continue to expand through such win-win cooperation.
