Nvidia Launches 'Mega AI Security Alliance'…Naver and SKT Join as Founding Members

고진아 Reporter

Nvidia has launched the 'Open Secure AI Alliance,' an open AI security coalition to strengthen AI safety and cybersecurity, partnering with approximately 40 global tech giants and research institutions including Microsoft (MS), IBM, and SpaceX. Domestically, Naver and SK Telecom have joined as founding members.

The 'Open Secure AI Alliance' aims to jointly develop and share open technologies and tools to strengthen AI safety and cybersecurity. With approximately 40 global tech companies and research institutions participating under Nvidia's leadership, this coalition is interpreted as Nvidia's strategic move to expand its influence beyond the AI semiconductor market into AI safety and security fields.

The rapid proliferation of AI technology has brought both innovation and the challenge of increased, unpredictable new security threats. As awareness spreads that responding to these complex threats requires open collaboration and collective efforts not limited to specific companies or nations, this coalition is expected to serve as a new turning point in the global AI security landscape.

Particularly significant is the participation of South Korea's leading companies Naver and SK Telecom as founding members. These companies are expected to contribute to establishing global AI security norms and technology standards while strengthening the position of domestic companies within the future AI ecosystem.

Nvidia has repeatedly emphasized the importance of developing an open ecosystem for AI security. The company stressed that "it is important to recognize open models, frameworks, and security tools as defensive assets rather than risk factors in AI and cybersecurity policies," revealing a critical perspective on closed-off approaches. Additionally, Nvidia has made public the open-source research project 'NOOA' (No One Outsmarts AI) on GitHub and plans to support AI agent behavior testing.

There is growing expectation that domestic companies' participation as early members in the frontlines of global AI security norms and open technology standards research will establish a positive foundation for securing leadership within the future global AI ecosystem. All eyes globally are focused on what kind of ripple effects Nvidia's proposed open AI security strategy will have amidst closed-off movements surrounding AI technology.
