Kim Bo-mi (Busan City Hall) and Hong Soo-hyun (Gangwon-do Provincial Government) of Korea's shooting national team both stepped onto the podium to win bronze medals together at the 2026 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Hangzhou tournament.
The two athletes competed in the 10m air pistol mixed team finals on the first day of the tournament on the 22nd (local time) in Hangzhou, China, and secured third place with a final score of 418.9 points. In the finals' first stage, the Kim Bo-mi and Hong Soo-hyun pair accumulated 298.6 points, and then recorded 359.4 points in the second stage elimination round, securing their spot in the medal rankings.
The gold and silver medals were both taken by host nation China. The Yao Chenxun and Hu Kai pair confirmed the gold medal by establishing a world record of 488.4 points, while the Xian Yao and Bu Shaixiang pair earned the silver medal with 485.7 points. It was once again a confirmation of China's overwhelming dominance backed by home-field advantage.
Although the gold medal was out of reach, both athletes' comments showed a clear determination for what comes next. Hong Soo-hyun said, "It was much hotter in the finals, but we achieved good results by coordinating well with my partner," and expressed her resolve by saying, "I want to strengthen my fundamentals even more and win medals in the individual events at the Asian Games and World Championships." Kim Bo-mi also said, "Although I'm a bit disappointed with the bronze medal, I'm happy to have won a medal at an international competition in a long time, and I'm more satisfied because it's a result made together with my partner," and added, "I'm relieved that we finished warming up well at the last international tournament before the Asian Games."
Thanks to this bronze medal, Korea ranked joint second place along with Sweden, just behind host nation China in the medal count as of the tournament's first day. With 66 ISSF member nations participating, this tournament served as a final check of Korea's national team's practical competitive performance ahead of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, making the significance of this result even greater. With the final check wrapped up with a medal, the goal now is a higher place on the podium at the Asian Games.
