Authorities in Austin, Texas, confirmed the arrest of a third suspect late Sunday night, marking the end of a violent shooting spree that spanned multiple locations throughout the city. The three suspects, identified as juveniles and teenagers, are allegedly linked to at least 12 random shooting incidents that occurred over the course of the weekend. The final suspect was apprehended following an hours-long manhunt that extended into the neighboring community of Manor, where local police assisted in the final stages of the operation.

The series of attacks began as a sequence of drive-by style shootings targeting unsuspecting individuals in public spaces. Among the four people wounded during the rampage was a dog walker in South Austin, whose injury contributed to a growing sense of alarm that briefly placed parts of the city on high alert. Police described the nature of the crimes as entirely random, with no clear motive connecting the victims to the perpetrators. While four individuals sustained injuries, officials noted that the number of incidents—ranging between 10 and 12 separate reports—suggested a high volume of gunfire across various neighborhoods.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott addressed the situation following the final arrest, characterizing the suspects as "serial criminals" and expressing support for the swift action taken by law enforcement. The governor’s remarks mirrored the concerns of local residents who faced a weekend of uncertainty as reports of gunfire continued to emerge. The Austin Police Department, alongside regional partners, utilized surveillance data and community tips to track the suspects' movements, eventually narrowing the search to the individuals now in custody.

The investigation remains active as detectives work to process evidence from the dozen crime scenes and determine the specific roles each suspect played in the spree. While the names of the juvenile suspects have not been officially released due to their age, the charges are expected to be significant given the scale of the violence and the number of victims involved. For now, the city of Austin has transitioned from a state of emergency to a phase of recovery, with police emphasizing that the immediate threat to the public has been neutralized.
